The quality and safety of our food matters. That’s been an important part of the Cumberland Farms tradition since we started as a small dairy farm over 75 years ago. Today, we remain committed to providing the best possible products for the best possible value.
For some of our customers, “value” means more than just a competitive price. Many people want to know more about their food, including our Cumberland Farms branded (private label) food products. To that end, we always strive to provide meaningful, accurate, fact-based information that helps make eating choices easier—not harder.
From disclosing basic nutritional data to identifying foods produced with biotechnology, our goal is empowering customers to make informed decisions about the products they want to purchase. We invite you to learn more about specific issues below and, as always, to let us know how we’re doing. How are we doing?
Cumberland Farms is committed to helping our customers make nutritional choices that are right for them. Because everyone’s diet, lifestyle, and food preferences are different, we aim to provide a diverse menu of products to meet a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and snacking needs.
We’re constantly evolving our products to offer a broad and ever-expanding menu. By providing easy access to caloric information and other nutrition facts for each of those products, we hope to assist you in making the most informed choices possible.Nutrition Information
Dietary restrictions or personal preferences lead some of our customers—particularly those with food allergies—to request information about the ingredients in our products.
Ingredient lists are available on-demand in our stores, and most of our packaged products contain this information directly on the label.
Food ingredients produced with biotechnology (i.e, genetic engineering, or GE) are ubiquitous in the United States and across the globe. These products (also called genetically modified organisms, or GMOs) must meet the same food safety requirements as foods derived from traditionally bred crops, and have been evaluated by many of the most influential scientific organizations and regulatory agencies.
Those groups—including the Food and Drug Administration, the American Medical Association, the World Health Organization, and the National Academy of Sciences—have not found any difference in food safety between GE and non-GE ingredients. According to the FDA, for example, “credible evidence has demonstrated that foods from the GE plant varieties marketed to date are as safe as comparable, non-GE foods.”
Nevertheless, some consumers have decided that they want to consider the presence or absence of GMO ingredients when making their food purchasing decisions. That’s why we’ve worked closely with our vendors to identify GMO ingredients in our private label products, and to make that information available to the public.
